The following are quotes from the postgame press conference that followed Montana's 34-20 loss to Eastern Washington.
MONTANA
Freshman quarterback Cole Bergquist
"I think everyone talks about Eastern Washington's offense, and their offense was good, but their defense was solid too. They did a great job."
"We're probably going to dwell on (the loss) the rest of the day, but come Sunday, come the new week, we're going to let it go ... and try not to lose anymore."
Sophomore linebacker Tyler Joyce
"It wasn't that they out schemed us today. I mean we were in positions to make plays and we didn't make them. I know I was, I know a lot of the guys were."
"Third down killed us today. That was one of the main factors that got us the loss today. We couldn't get off the field. Third and long they converted consistently. We couldn't stop them."
Sophomore wide receiver Jeff Bagley
"We were just trying to make plays to get back in the game and I knew someone had to step up once (Jon Talmage left the game with an injury)."
"We have to work on winning and not concentrate on the individual stuff."
Head coach Coach Hauck
"Basically, if we can't run the ball better than what we did today, we're not going to win ball games."
"(Erik Meyer) is a really good player. He's a terrific kid. We have a lot of respect for him. We like him off the field, don't like playing against him a whole bunch. He played a great game and that was expected ... we didn't have any answers for him today."
"We've got some correcting to do in our pass defense."
"In watching their tape, I'd give their defense credit for playing the best defensive game of the year."
"They controlled the line of scrimmage and that's the story of the game in my mind."
"Eastern (Washington) was better prepared than we were, played better than we did, and they beat us and right now we just need to get back on track."
EASTERN WASHINGTON
Senior linebacker Joey Cwik
"(Montana) is a good team, but our scheme against their scheme, we outmatched them ... we had to come an respond to what they had."
"They didn't come out with anything new or run anything new."
"They fought hard and played really well."
Senior quarterback Erik Meyer
"Coming into a hostile environment like this and to come out on top with a victory is huge for us. That just gets us rolling into next week."
"It was important for us to keep our composure and stick to what we do."
Head coach Paul Wulff
"Our programs matured a lot."
"We knew coming in here that we had to take shots. We weren't going to sit here and be passive. We were going to be as aggressive as we needed to."
