Griz golfers in fourth after first day at SDSU Invitational

The University of Montana golf team is in fourth place after tallying back-to-back 306?s in the first two rounds of the San Diego State Invitational on Monday. The Grizzlies are seven strokes off the pace set by host team San Diego State which carded a two-round 605 at The Auld Course in Chula Vista, Calif.
The Grizzlies have a pair of competitors who are in the top ten after the opening day of play. Montana is led by sophomore Brittany Williamson who is in fourth place with a 3-over-par 147. Williamson, who had a 79.6 stroke average entering the tournament, fired rounds of 74 and 73 on the 36-hole first day.
Senior Jasi Acharya shot consecutive rounds of 75 and is in a tie for ninth place with a 6-over-par 150. Junior Krista Swanson, the reigning Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week, tallied a 78 in the first round and a 75 in the second for a 9-over-par 153.
Senior Mary Hasselberg is tied for 41st with a two-round total of 162 (+18). Hasselberg shot an opening-round 79 and followed that up with a second-round 83.
Sophomore Anna Maria Jaramillo carded a 164 (+20) and is tied for 49th.
The tournament is led by Sacramento State?s Margaux Sheehan who tallied a 1-under-par 143.
The third and final round is played Tuesday.
