Griz open season on road at Boise State, Loyola Marymount

THE GAMES:
The University of Montana Grizzlies (0-0/0-0 Big Sky Conference) begin their 2005-06 season on the road this Friday, November 18, playing former Big Sky Conference member Boise State University Broncos (0-0) of the Western Athletic Conference at 7:30 p.m. (Mtn.) in Taco Bell Arena (12,380) on the BSU campus. On Monday, Nov. 21, the Griz play the Loyola Marymount University Lions (0-0) of the West Coast Conference at 8:05 p.m. (Mtn.) in LMU's Gersten Pavilion (4,156).
RADIO:
Montana's flagship station is KGVO-AM (1290) Radio of Missoula, now in its sixth season. Now in his 13th season calling the play-by-play for the men's team and his 21st overall is the 'voice of the Griz' Mick Holien. The Larry Krystkowiak Radio Show, hosted by Holien, is broadcast live every Monday from 7:00-6:30 p.m., from Paradise Falls on KGVO.
GRIZ LAST GAMES:
All five starters scored in double figures as the Griz defeated St. Martin's 97-64 in their second exhibition game of the young season. Senior guard Virgil Matthews scored a game-high 22 points, while senior guard Kevin Criswell tallied 21. All 12 Griz players who suited up scored, as Montana defeated visiting University of Great Falls 83-47 in UM's first exhibition game on Nov. 4. Junior forward Matt Dlouhy (Duh-Loo-EE), who missed the St. Martin's game with an injury, had a team-high 15 points.
GRIZ LAST YEAR:
Montana was 18-13 overall last season and 9-5 (tied for second) in the Big Sky and won the Big Sky's post-season tourney as the third seed, defeating Eastern Washington (58-48), Montana State (79-67 in the semis), and Weber State (63-61) in the title game. The Griz advanced to the NCAA tournament for the sixth time in school history, losing 88-77 to the Washington Huskies in a 1st-round NCAA game played in Boise, Idaho.
