Griz women pick up road win at Lewis-Clark State

The University of Montana women's tennis team won four singles matches and the doubles point in a 5-2 win over Lewis-Clark State Sunday in Lewiston, Idaho. The win improves the Grizzlies' record to 3-4 overall.
Montana won at Nos. 3 through 6 in singles play. Senior Lindsey Torgerson won 6-0, 6-3 over LCSC's Maria Resende at No. 3. Freshman Mari Castello also won in straight-sets with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles over Khaliun Enkjargal.
Junior Jonna Schwartz and sophomore Colby Fannin won at singles Nos. 5 and 6. Schwartz topped Carla Jones 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) while Fannin rolled by Kristine Beamer 6-3, 6-2.
The Grizzlies took matches at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to earn the point. Castello and teammate senior Annabelle Janairo won 8-4 over Resende/Puzova at No. 1 doubles. UM's Torgerson/Schwartz won at the No. 3 position over Enkhjargal/Yangchen, 8-5.
The Montana women return to action on March 11-13 in Boise, Idaho when the Griz battle Boise State, Idaho and Portland.
