University of Montana sophomore Sami Cooke became the 11th player to score a goal for the Grizzlies this season as Montana defeated Portland State, 1-0, Sunday, Oct. 15. The Anchorage, Alaska, native scored off a cross from senior Lindsay Winans in the 50th minute. The goal was the first of Cooke's career as she scored on her second career shot.
Sophomore Sara Campbell made four saves in the shutout for the Grizzlies. Campbell replaced Harris in goal who was serving a one game suspension for the red card she received in Friday??s match against Sacramento State.
Senior Lindsay Winans took a game-high four shots for the Grizzlies. Senior Kristina Lamberty also had three shots.
Juli Edwards, Kari Otani and Laura Ellison each took two shots for the Vikings.
Cris Lewis made five saves and allowed one goal for PSU.
UM was caught offside four times to PSU??s one. Portland State also committed 18 fouls to Montana??s 17.
UM sophomore Sara Aspinwall and PSU??s Salina Karia each received a yellow card in the match.
The Grizzlies (8-6-1, 2-1-1) will host Idaho State on Senior Day, Thursday, Oct. 19, at 4 p.m. With the loss, Portland State falls to 2-12-1, 2-2-0.
