Grizzlies fall in overtime at Pacific

University of Pacific junior forward Anthony Brown scored a lay-up with 3:20 to go in overtime to give his team a 66-64 lead and the Tigers led the rest of the way en route to a 76-71 OT victory over The University of Montana Grizzlies in front of 2,942 fans in Pacific??s Alex Spanos Center Saturday evening.
The Grizzlies (5-5) had taken a 63-61 lead with 46 seconds left in regulation on a three point shot by sophomore guard Ryan Staudacher. The Tigers (8-3) tied the game at 63-63 with 23 seconds to go in regulation on a jump shot by junior center Michael Nunnally.
Montana had a chance for the win, but a short jump shot by junior forward Jordan Hasquet was off the mark to force the overtime.
The game was tied 14 times and there were 11 lead changes. The game was tied 28-28 at halftime.
Hasquet, who injured his ankle late in the first half, led all scorers with 28 points, and he had 16 of those points in the second half. UM junior forward Andrew Strait added 12 points, and senior guard Matt Martin added 10 points. Hasquet led the Grizzlies with 7 rebounds while Staudacher added a career-high 6 boards.
Brown led the Tigers with 16 points and had a game-high 8 rebounds, while Nunally added 15 points.
The Grizzlies made 28-of-53 shots for 52.8%, hit 8-of-20 (40.0%) three-pointers, and were 7-of-9 from the line for 77.8%.
The Tigers made 24-of-52 (46.2%) field goal tries, 5-of-14 (35.7%) treys, and 23-of-31 free throws for 74.2%. The teams each had 30 rebounds.
Montana plays at Santa Clara Monday, Dec. 17, while Pacific is at Fresno State next Saturday, Dec. 22.
