Montana at EWU in key conference contest

THE GAME: The University of Montana Grizzlies (3-3/9-9) concludes a three-game Big Sky Conference road trip, playing the Eastern Washington Eagles (3-3/9-9) on Wednesday Jan. 21, in EWU???s Reese Court (6,000). Tip-off is at 8:05 p.m. (Mountain).
THE SERIES: The Grizzlies lead 54-36. Last year: at UM 80, EWU 61/UM 59 at EWU 57.
GRIZ ON RADIO/TV: Veteran Mick Holien calls the play-by-play action and Greg
Sundberg provices color commentary on UM???s flagship station, KXGZ-FM (101.5) of Missoula. There is no TV coverage scheduled for the game.
NEXT FOR GRIZ?: Montana hosts Northern Colorado on Sunday, Jan. 25, for a 2:05 p.m. game which will be aired live on Altitude TV.
CAPSULES OF MONTANA???S LAST TWO GAMES:
At WEBER STATE 71, MONTANA 55: The Wildcats had three players score in double
figures en route to the win. Montana jumped to an early 9-2 lead on a pair of free throws by Anthony Johnson with 15:08 left until intermission, but WSU took a 12-11 lead on a pair of free throws with 10:39 left until halftime and led the rest of the way. WSU took a double-digit lead (34-23) in the opening seconds of the second half and maintained a lead of 10 points or more throughout the rest of the contest. UM???s Johnson continued his torrid scoring pace with a game-high 21 points, while Jack McGillis added 16 points, while Jordan Hasquet had a team-high 8 rebounds. Davis and Kellen McCoy scored 18 points each for the Wildcats, while freshman guard Damian Lillard added 17.
At Idaho State 77, Montana 67: Amorrow Morgan scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Bengals. The Griz took a 48-45 lead with 10:44 left to play, on a lay-up by sophomore center Brian Qvale, but ISU took the lead for good at 51-50 with 8:34 remaining on a pair of free throws. The Bengals then out-scored the Grizzlies 17 to 4 over the next four-plus minutes and took a 68-54 lead with 4:28 left. Johnson with 20 points, while Hasquet had his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
