Montana concludes homestand with Sac State

THE GAME: The University of Montana Grizzly men???s hoop team (8-7/2-1 Big Sky) concludes a three-game homestand, hosting the Sacramento State Hornets (1-15/0-3), on Saturday, Jan. 10, in UM???s Dalberg Arena (7,310) with tip-off at 7:05 p.m. (Mountain time).
THE SERIES: Montana leads the series with Sac State 24-5. Last year: UM 76 @Sac State 69 and @UM 90, Sac State 57.
GRIZ ON THE RADIO: Veteran Mick Holien calls the action on KXGZ-FM (101.5), while Greg Sundberg provides color commentary.

CAPSULE OF MONTANA???S LAST TWO GAMES:
At Montana 62, Northern Arizona 61: Anthony Johnson scored a career-high 32 points, and Jack McGillis made a free throw with six seconds remaining, as Montana edged NAU. McGillis??? final free throw gave UM its first and only lead of the game. NAU (4-11/1-3) led by as many as 16 points (40-24) early in the second half, but the Griz made it a single-digit game with 10:25 to go when Johnson scored on a lay-up, making it 51-42, NAU. The only tie in the game came with 1:13 to go, when McGillis hit a three-pointer, making it 61-61. NAUs had a shot to win the game, but guard Cameron Jones??? jumper was short, and the teams scrambled for the rebound as the buzzer sounded. Johnson made 7-of-14 shots and was 18-of-19 from the free throw line. McGillis was UM???s other double-figure scorer with 11 points, while Jordan Hasquet grabbed a game-high 9 rebounds. Montana was deadly from the free throw line, making 27-of-29 attempts, including 19-of-20 (95.0%) in the second half. NAU was 15-of-19 from the line in the contest. Jones led NAU with 21 points.
At Montana 73, Montana State 59: Junior guard Anthony Johnson scored a career-high 31 points to lead the Grizzlies, playing their first home game in 28 days, to the win. Freshman forward Derek Selvig???s three-pointer gave UM a 48-37 lead with 9:11 left in the game, and the Grizzlies led by double-digits the rest of the way. Johnson scored 23 of his 31 points in the second half, making 7-of-9 field goal attempts and 9-of-10 free throws. UM senior forward Jordan Hasquet was UM???s other double-figure scorer with 17 points, and scored 13 points in the final half. The game was tied three times and there were also three lead changes ??? all in the first half. The Grizzlies led 27-22 at halftime.
