Horn named AFCA All-American

University of Montana senior offensive tackle Levi Horn and 2009 Big Sky Conference MVPs Matt Nichols and Dane Fletcher were three of five Big Sky players selected to the American Football Coaches Association Football Championship Subdivision All-America team the organization announced Tuesday.
Nichols, the BSC???s Offensive MVP, was selected as the quarterback, while Fletcher, the defensive MVP, was tabbed as a defensive linemen.
The three joined Weber State center Kyle Mutcher and Eastern Washington linebacker J.C. Sherritt on the squad. Sherritt and Mutcher were both named to the Walter Camp All-America team earlier this week, along with Montana senior wideout Marc Mariani.
Just 25 players were named to the AFCA team.
Nichols, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound senior from Cottonwood, Calif., finished his career as the Big Sky's all-time leader in total offense and passing yards. He averaged 327.7 yards of total offense per game. Nichols completed 298-of-458 passes for 3,830 yards with 33 touchdowns and just six interceptions.
Fletcher, a 6-2, 245-pound senior from Bozeman, Mont., finished second in the nation in tackles for loss with 27. He finished with 66 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
Sherritt, a junior from Pullman, Wash., recorded a national-high 170 total tackles.
Horn, a 6-7 315-pound senior from Spokane, Wash., will lead the Grizzly offensive line in Friday's national championship game against Villanova. Montana leads the Big Sky in rushing offense, and the offensive line has allowed just 19 sacks in 14 games.
Mutcher, a senior from Park City, Utah, was a first-team all-conference selection as a junior and a senior.
