Griz on road for pair of Big Sky games

The games: The University of Montana Grizzlies (10-4/1-1 Big Sky) resume their Big Sky Conference schedule, playing the Idaho State Bengals (3-10/0-1, Thursday, Dec. 31, with tip-off at 3:05 p.m. in ISU???s Holt Arena (8,000) and the Weber State Wildcats (7-6/1-0) on Saturday, Jan. 2, at 7:05 p.m. in WSU???s Dee Events Center (12,000).
Of note: The Wildcats were the preseason favorite choice in both the media and coaches polls. ISU was picked third by the coaches and fourth by the media. Montana was picked second in the coaches poll and third in the media voting. The Grizzly-Bengal game this Thursday in Pocatello is just ISU???s fourth home contest this season.

At Montana 100, U of Great Falls 52: Junior forward Raason Young scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Grizzlies. Eleven of the 12 players who suited up for the Grizzlies scored. Guard Ryan Staudacher scored 14 points, while guard-forward Michael Taylor added 13, and guard Will Cherry had 11.
At Montana 59, Fresno State 56: Forward Derek Selvig made two free throws with 2:47 to go to give his team its first lead of the second half, as the Griz defeated the Bulldogs. Guards Anthony Johnson and Cherry led UM with 11 points each.
At Montana 67, UC Riverside 52: Johnson scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Grizzlies. It was the eighth time this season that Johnson has scored 20 points. Staudacher was UM???s other double-figure scorer with 13 points. Center Brian Qvale and Selvig led the Griz with 9 rebounds each.
