
Johnson honored by Big Sky

OGDEN, UTAH (Oct. 31, 2011) - The Big Sky Conference has chosen The University of Montana's Jordan Johnson as its Co-Player of the Week on offense, the league announced today.
Johnson shared the award with Northern Colorado wide receiver Patrick Walker. Other award winners included Portland State linebacker Joel Sisler on defense and Viking kicker Zach Brown for special teams.
Johnson, a 6-foot-1, 202-pound sophomore quarterback from Eugene, Ore., completed 23-of-32 passes (.719 percent) for a career-high 299 yards and tied a school record with six passing touchdowns in Montana's 45-10 victory over Weber State. His touchdown passes went for 31, 18, 11, 17, 8 and 25 yards, and five of them came in the first half as Montana built a 38-3 lead. Four of his passes were caught by Jabin Sambrano.
Johnson tied the single-game mark set by Brian Ah Yat (6 touchdown passes at Stephen F. Austin, 1998) and Dave Dickenson's (6 scoring throws versus Boise State, 1995) with his six scoring throws.
Johnson also rushed for 53 yards on eight carries to finish with 352 yards of total offense. He became the first Big Sky quarterback to throw six TDS in a game since 2007. This is Johnson's first career Player of the Week award. He was also named the national player of the week by College Sports Madness, and a National All-Star by College Sporting News.
Walker, a 5-9, 180-pound senior from Long Beach, Calif., set a Big Sky single-game record with 315 receiving yards in UNC's 27-25 loss to North Dakota. Walker caught 10 passes, including two for TDs, and averaged 31.5 yards per catch. It is Walker's first player of the week award.
Sisler, a 6-2, 210-pound junior from Escondido, Calif., returned an interception 23 yards for a touchdown and finished with five tackles and a sack in PSU's 43-26 road win over Eastern Washington. This is Sisler's first player of the week award.
Brown, a 6-1, 200-pound junior from Keizer, Ore., made three field goals and finished with 12 points in PSU's win. This is Brown's fifth career Player of the Week honor.
