
Griz finish sixth at BYU Classic

The Montana women's golf team shot a final-round 320 Tuesday and finished in sixth place out of 18 teams at the BYU at Entrada Classic. The tournament was held at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah.
Montana (313-321-320--954) finished one stroke behind fifth-place Kansas State and held off Texas State, Indiana and Colorado State, all of which finished within seven strokes of the Grizzlies.
Minnesota (312-318-301--931) won the tournament by eight strokes over BYU. The Gophers finished 11 strokes up on No. 43 Wisconsin and a dozen shots ahead of No. 27 California.
Redshirt freshman Alexa Schendelman (79-81-76--236) and freshman Barbora Bakova (78-79-77--234) both had their best rounds of the tournament Tuesday. Bakova finished in a tie for 11th. Schendelman, who opened the day in a tie for 23rd, ended the third round in a tie for 14th.
Junior Tara Green (77-81-81--239), who won the Rio Verde Invitational at Montana's last tournament, tied for 20th.
Sophomore Phoebe Tan (79-83-86--248) tied for 50th, sophomore Hayley Bingham (86-80-89--255) tied for 65th.
Minnesota's Anna Laorr (75-75-72--222) and Wisconsin's Alexis Nelson (71-74-77--222) both finished the tournament at 6-over to share medalist honors.
Montana will continue its six-tournament spring schedule at Georgia State's John Kirk Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament will be played March 30 through April 1 at Eagles Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga.
