Montana knocks out Utah State 7-0

The Montana Grizzlies men's tennis team swept Utah State 7-0 Saturday afternoon in Boise, Idaho.
Only two months ago, Utah State defeated UM 5-2 at Logan, Utah.
"We turned 5-2 into a 7-0 win," Head coach Kris Nord said. "We had five guys avenge losses today from that first match."
One of Nord's goals of late has been closing out doubles matches, and earning the doubles point headed into singles play. On Saturday, Ethan Vaughn and Semion Branzburg earned a win at No. 1, while Andrew Warren and Eric Braun won in a close 8-6 match at No. 3.
"Doubles really set the tone for us," Nord said. "Peter (Mimnagh-Fleming) played really well with Mikolaj (Caruk). It's another option for us to use at doubles."
In singles play, Griz players won all six matches -- four of them in straight sets. Mikolaj Caruk won a third set tiebreaker to knock off Dennis Baumgartner, while Vaughn won two tiebreakers to defeat Sebastian Schneider.
"We've been right there" Nord said. "We've had close matches and we're playing better, and that's the whole point -- we're getting better."
The Griz play Boise State on Sunday at 10 a.m.
