Last year the Griz women's cross country team made history when it became the first Montana program to earn a Public Recognition Award in the nine-year history of the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate program.
Montana celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the APR Wednesday by doubling up on awards.
The cross country team made it back-to-back years having an APR that ranks in the top 10 percent nationally within its sport. And this year the Griz women's golf team joined the list.
They were two of 15 Big Sky Conference programs to make the cut this year, the same number of league sports that earned Public Recognition Awards last year.
Eastern Washington had a league-high three programs recognized. Montana, North Dakota and Portland State all had two. Southern Utah was the only Big Sky school without a program making the list.
The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each academic term and attempts to provide a clear picture of the academic performance of each team at every NCAA school.
The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years.
A total of 275 Division I schools placed at least one team on the APR list, an increase of 19 from last year. Dartmouth led the nation, with 26 of its 28 programs earning a Public Recognition Award.
APRs for all Division I teams will be released Wednesday, May 14.
