The Montana women's golf team wrapped up the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational and its fall tournament schedule with a third-round 301 on Tuesday at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash.
Â
It was the Grizzlies' best round since last spring, when they shot a second-round 301 at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Ariz.
Â
Freshman Tricia Joyce (78-76-73) shot a final-round 73 to move up into a tie for 38th in the individual standings. She began the day tied for 60th.
Â
She birdied her first hole of the day, the par-5 16th, and closed with a birdie as well, carding a 2 on the par-3 15th.
Â
She had four birdies on the day, a number matched by Brooklyn Van Bebber (79-83-74), who shot a 74, her best round as a collegiate golfer.
Â
Faith D'Ortenzio (76-79-76) opened with a 76 on Monday morning and closed with a 76. She shot three rounds in the 70s for the first time in her collegiate career. She tied for 57th in the standings.
Â
Allison Sobol (76-78-79) also played three rounds in the 70s. She tied for 70th.
Â
Despite Montana's solid finish, the Grizzlies were unable to move up from 17th in the 18-team field.
Â
They finished one stroke behind Boise State, four behind Wyoming, six behind Santa Clara and seven behind Cal State Northridge.
Â
Gonzaga (290-278-292) won the tournament by 13 strokes over Seattle (292-295-286), 20 over Nevada (298-290-292).
Â
Gonzaga's Quynn Duong (69-69-71) won the individual title by four strokes over Houston Baptist's Elise Parel (74-70-69).
Â
Four golfers finished the tournament under par.
Â
Montana won't compete again for nearly five months. The spring schedule opens at the Lady Thunderbird Invitational in St. George, Utah, on March 12-13.
