Lady Griz open league on the road

The Montana women's basketball team will open its Big Sky Conference schedule in the coming days with road games at Northern Arizona and Sacramento State.

The Lady Griz (5-4) will face the Lumberjacks (3-6) on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Flagstaff and the Hornets (2-7) on Monday at 8 p.m. (MT) in Sacramento.

Montana concluded its pre-league schedule with a 70-53 victory over MSU Billings on Friday, Dec. 20, behind 13 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists from McKenzie Johnston.

The Lady Griz led the Division II Yellowjackets just 32-27 at the half but behind five players in double figures steadily pulled away in the second half.

At a glance (Montana): The Lady Griz take a 5-4 record into their Big Sky schedule for the second straight year. Two of Montana's five wins have come against non-Division I opponents, two of its losses have come against ranked opponents (Arizona and South Dakota).
