Montana locked up the No. 1 seed and a Big Sky Conference regular-season title on the road Saturday night, and now the Grizzlies are bringing the celebration back to Missoula. Fans are invited to take part in Montana's celebratory net-cutting ceremony, Sunday night at approximately 5:45 p.m. inside Dahlberg Arena. With this being a short notice, Montana Athletics is asking fans to help spread the word.
The team is flying back from Sacramento on Sunday. It is scheduled to arrive to the Adams Center at approximately 5:50 p.m. and will cut down nets immediately following. Parking on campus will be free.
Montana becomes the first Big Sky school to repeat as regular-season champions since the Grizzlies did it in 2012 and 2013. The title is Montana's 12th regular-season crown in its history, including fifth in the past eight seasons. Head coach Travis DeCuire is the first coach in UM history to win three regular-season championships.
The Grizzlies will play as the No. 1 seed at next week's conference tournament in Boise, Idaho and will face either Northern Arizona or Sacramento State in the quarterfinals (Thursday at 12 p.m. MT).
