SPOKANE, Wash. – Despite battling cold and rainy conditions, Montana had several strong performances Saturday at the WAR XII Northwest Scoring Clash.
Brent Yeakey made a splash during last season's outdoor championships, moving up several spots to score in both the shot put and discus as a freshman. He was again near his best on Saturday, winning the discus (156-11) and placing second in the shot put (53-4.5).
Overall, it was the freshmen who dominated the men's sprints. For the second week in a row, Xavier Melice won the 200 meters, clocking a 21.85. He was followed closely by teammates Cade Johnstone (22.06, second) and Paul Johnstone (22.30, fourth).
