Achenbach named Big Sky pitcher of the week once again

FARMINGTON, Utah – Montana pitcher Tristin Achenbach was named the Big Sky Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and third time of her career. The league made the announcement Monday evening.
The junior from Choteau, Montana, went 3-0 at the Lopes Up Classic over the weekend, earning the win in all three of Montana's victories and posting a 0.45 ERA across 15 2/3 innings of work. She struck out 10 batters while allowing just 10 hits.
Achenbach started two games in the circle, throwing complete games in both.
She allowed five hits in a 5-1 win over Saint Joseph's on Friday, before coming on in relief later that day, in a 10-7 victory over Grand Canyon. She entered the game in the bottom of the sixth with one out, two on and the tying run at the plate, and got a fly out and strikeout to end the threat. She then went back out to pitch a hit-less seventh inning.
On Saturday vs. Grand Canyon, Achenbach again allowed just five hits, posting the third shutout of her career and second in eight days.
Over the weekend, opponents batted .182 against Achenbach, who already has nine wins on the young season.
