Lady Griz to host Yotes on Sunday afternoon

The Montana women's basketball team lost a Saturday game when Whitworth had to cancel its visit to Missoula, but the Lady Griz have picked up a Sunday game in its place.

Montana will host College of Idaho at 2 p.m. at Dahlberg Arena.

The Yotes (1-5) play at Lewis-Clark State on Saturday afternoon in Lewiston, Idaho.

College of Idaho is in the unusual position of being a basketball-playing team in a league -- the Cascade Conference -- that is not playing basketball this winter.

That's left the Yotes -- and Lewis-Clark State, the other Cascade Conference school that is forging ahead -- as somewhat of an independent.

Those two teams will battle it out for the league's automatic bid to the NAIA national tournament, in a two-team format this has yet to be determined.

The Yotes are 0-2 against Division I opponents this season, falling 90-43 at Boise State in early December and 59-46 at Eastern Washington on Dec. 17.

The team's lone win was a 58-56 home victory over William Jessup in mid-December.

Montana most recently played at Northern Colorado, splitting with the Bears in Greeley.

The Lady Griz (3-3) rallied from 19 down late in the third quarter to win 60-56 on Jan. 1 and lost 77-76 in overtime on Jan. 3 after falling behind by 24 points in the first half.

Sunday's game will be the first between Montana and College of Idaho.
