Three Lady Griz basketball players were named Academic All-District this week by College Sports Communicators.
Â
Being recognized for both their academic and athletic achievements were Macy Donarski, Kennedy Gillette and Avery Waddington, giving Montana 13 Academic All-District selections the last four years.
Â
To be eligible, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and must have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games over the previous season.
Â
Donarski, a redshirt sophomore communicative sciences and disorders major, has a 3.98 GPA.
Â
She played in 30 of 31 games this past season, getting 29 starts. She totaled 71 points and 47 assists, and ranked second on the team with 34 steals.
Â
Gillette, a junior marketing major who spent her first two collegiate seasons at College of Southern Idaho, has a 3.79 GPA.
Â
In her first year at Montana, Gillette played in all 31 games, making 16 starts and averaging 5.5 points.
Â
She six times scored 10 or more points, including 15 against Northern Arizona in a first-round win at the Big Sky Conference Championship in Boise earlier this month.
Â
Waddington, a sophomore communications major, has a 3.68 GPA.
Â
She did it all for Montana last season, leading the Lady Griz in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals, the first player in program history to lead the team in those five statistical categories.
Â
Waddington was voted second-team All-Big Sky after averaging 13.0 points on team-best 45.8 percent shooting and 6.5 rebounds.
Â
Waddington had four double-doubles last season, five games of 20 or more points, with a season-high 31 coming in a home win over Portland State.
