Montana senior shortstop Maygen McGrath, the 2022 Big Sky Conference Player of the Year, was named third-team All-Pacific Region on Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Â
McGrath, also voted third-team as a junior, becomes Montana's first repeat selection. Delene Colburn, honored in 2017, is the program's only other all-region pick.
Â
"She had a consistent, successful approach to the game this season and was a consistent offensive threat for us," said coach Melanie Meuchel. "I'm really proud of her and really excited for her."
Â
After batting .410 as a junior, McGrath followed it up with a record-breaking season in 2022.
Â
She led the Big Sky in both batting average (.383) and home runs (17), the latter breaking Colburn's program record of 14, which she set in 2017.
Â
McGrath led the Grizzlies in runs scored (36), hits (57) and RBIs (35), and led the Big Sky in slugging percentage (.758).
Â
McGrath, who will become a four-time Academic All-Big Sky selection this summer, was second-team All-Big Sky as a junior, first-team as a senior. She was a five-time Big Sky Player of the Week.
Â
"I'm excited for the type of players we're getting and excited to watch them continue to elevate over the course of their career in every aspect of who they are," said Meuchel.
Â
McGrath concluded her career last week ranked second in program history in hits (196) and home runs (42), third in runs scored (123) and RBIs (120), and fourth in batting average (.360).
