"The House That Rob Built," the documentary that was co-directed by former Lady Griz Megan Harrington and chronicled the rise of the Montana women's basketball program under former coach Robin Selvig, has earned a nomination from the Northwest Regional Emmy Awards.
The nomination is in the category of Documentary/Historical.
"The House That Rob Built" was shown at Montana's Big Sky Film Festival and later released digitally nationwide. It is currently available on DVD/Blu-Ray and on Tubi and other digital platforms.
The film highlights Selvig's remarkable 38-year coaching career at Montana.
Beginning in 1978, in the wake of Title IX, when the notion of young women competing in college basketball at a high level was barely a blip on anyone's radar, Selvig was hired at Montana and made the Lady Griz program his life's work.
Through nearly four decades, ending after the 2015-16 season, Selvig led Montana to 865 victories, 24 conference championships and 21 trips to the NCAA tournament.
Co-directed by Harrington and Jonathan Cipiti, the film was a nominee for the Big Sky Award at the 2020 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula, where it played to three sold-out houses.
The film tied with the Academy Award-winning "Summer of Soul" in the Best Documentary category at the 2021 International Catholic Film Critics Association Awards.
It also was a 2022 Christopher Awards winner in the TV, Cable & Streaming category.
The film was produced by Family Theater Productions of Hollywood, Calif.
"I am grateful to the Northwest Regional Emmy's for the honor," said Harrington. "As we approach the 50th anniversary of Title IX, I stand in awe of the women who blazed a trail for others to follow and coaches like Rob who believed in the greatness of women athletes from the beginning.
"May we always remember the sacrifices made for the chance to play and carry the torch with pride. We stand on the shoulders of giants."
