No. 4 Portland State ended No. 6 Montana's season on Thursday afternoon with a 13-0 victory in an elimination game at the Big Sky Conference Championship at Wildcat Softball Field in Ogden, Utah.
Vikings starter Olivia Grey faced just 16 batters, one over the minimum, and tossed a five-inning no-hitter, the seventh thrown against the Grizzlies in program history.
The only runner allowed by Grey, who struck out seven, came on an infield error in the bottom of the third.
Grey set down the first seven batters she faced, then the last eight following the error as Portland State handed Montana its third-largest margin of defeat in program history.
The Vikings scored one run in the first, three in the second, then erupted for nine runs on eight hits, including a grand slam, in the top of the fifth.
Allie Brock, Grace Haegele and Evelyn O'Brien all threw for Montana, all allowed four or more runs.
Montana, which lost 9-1 in six innings to No. 3 Northern Colorado on Wednesday in a first-round game, ends its season with a record of 10-37.
