Griz-Cat doubleheader, free Winter Pep Rally highlight full Saturday
1/21/2025 10:24:00 AM | General, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball
It's the biggest week of the winter, as Montana is set to host rival Montana State in a Brawl of the Wild doubleheader on Saturday. The Lady Griz host MSU at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7.
Â
Tickets for either game start at just $10, with general-admission seating available.
Â
Fans are encouraged to make it a full day on campus, with the Winter Pep Rally running from 4 to 6:30 p.m., in between the two basketball games. The Winter Pep Rally is free and will have both indoor and outdoor elements, with activities taking place in both the University Center and on the Oval.
Â
In the UC, fans and community members can take advantage of a variety of activities, including games and face painting with student-athletes; free play at the Gaming Den; sign-making stations for the men's basketball game; Esports competitions; and much more. Plus, food options – including the newly opened Gary's Local Burgers – as well as a beer garden will be available for purchase.
Â
Outside on the Oval, fans can enjoy free ice skating and skate rentals, as well as fire pits and snow domes. A beer garden will also be available outside, as well as free hot cocoa and popcorn.
Â
The Winter Pep Rally culminates with a giant bonfire (at approximately 5:30 p.m.) and a spectacular fireworks show (at approximately 6 p.m.) on the Oval, before fans are encouraged to head back to Dahlberg Arena for that night's rivalry basketball game.
Â
This is the third installment of the Winter Pep Rally, but the first year that it has been moved to Saturday, in-between the basketball games. It will also be expanded this year, with activities inside the UC and outside on the Oval, as well as collaboration with athletics and various departments across campus.
Fans who do not have basketball parking passes are encouraged to park near the UC, including lots A, F, R, V or V1.
Â
Last February, both the Lady Griz and Griz were victorious over Montana State at home, and look to make it another sweep. Also on Saturday is Montana's men's tennis season opener, with free admission at the PEAK Racquet Club, starting at 10:30 a.m.
