Lady Griz open Big Sky Championship with familiar opponent

The Montana women's basketball team, the No. 8 seed, will open the Big Sky Conference Championship this weekend with a first-round match-up against No. 7 Northern Arizona.

The Lady Griz (8-20) and Lumberjacks (10-20), who are meeting for the fourth time in the last five postseasons, will tip off on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Idaho Central Arena in Boise.

The teams split their regular-season meetings, with Northern Arizona winning 81-72 in Flagstaff, Montana 76-72 in Missoula.

The winner will advance to face No. 2 Montana State (22-6) at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday on the first of two days of quarterfinal games. Semifinals will be played on Tuesday, the championship on Wednesday.

Coverage: All nine games of the tournament will be streamed on ESPN+ with Wednesday afternoon's championship game also being shown on ESPNU.
