The 2024 season is Delene Colburn’s second year as an assistant coach with the Montana softball program.
Coburn, who previously was a teacher at Gildo Rey Elementary School in Auburn, Wash., was a Griz softball player from 2015-18.
Colburn was one of the first six players to sign a National Letter of Intent with Montana, which played its first games in 2015.
The all-region shortstop started all 220 games during her career and helped lead the Grizzlies to a Big Sky Conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance in 2017.
Colburn was honorable mention All-Big Sky as a freshman in 2015, second-team all-league as a sophomore and junior, first-team All-Big Sky as a senior.
The three-time Academic All-Big Sky selection was five times named Big Sky Player of the Week, three times voted to the Big Sky All-Tournament team.
Colburn was named third-team NFCA All-Pacific Region as a junior in 2017 after leading Montana to a Big Sky title in its third year as a program.
Colburn, who earned an elementary education degree in 2018, graduated as the program leader in career games played and started (220), at-bats (684), runs scored (160), hits (254), doubles (57), home runs (45), RBIs (198), total bases (454) and walks (93).
