The 2024 season is Sam Woodley’s first year as an assistant coach with the Montana softball program. She was hired in the summer of 2023 after working the last three seasons at Abilene Christian.
Originally from Toutle, Wash., Woodley played collegiately at Corban, an NAIA school in Salem, Ore., from 2017-20. Her teams went 135-49.
Her freshman year, the Warriors went 46-13 and finished national runners-up at the NAIA World Series in Clermont, Fla., as Woodley started 56 games and batted .376.
She ended her career with a .370 batting average, 207 hits – 73 going for extra bases – and 137 RBIs. She earned second-team all-league honors as a freshman, first-team as a junior when she batted .395.
Woodley worked at Abilene Christian as a graduate assistant for former Corban coach Abigail Farler for the 2021 and ’22 seasons, a volunteer assistant in 2023.
In Woodley's second year on staff, in 2022, Abilene Christian made a 11-win improvement from the previous season, including going 15-9 in the tough Western Athletic Conference.
