The 2025 season is Tyler Jeske’s first year as an assistant coach at Montana. He serves as the hitting coach for the Grizzlies.
Jeske’s previous job was hitting coach for the Missoula PaddleHeads in the Pioneer Baseball League. The PaddleHeads went 62-34 during the 2024 season and led the PBL in batting average and runs scored.
The PaddleHeads hit .328 and averaged nearly 10 runs per game, not once getting shut out.
Jeske had a wide range of baseball experiences after graduating from Akron in 2013 with a degree in communications and media studies.
He got his start in baseball while still in college as a video intern with the Akron Aeros, the then Cleveland Indians’ AA team.
Jeske worked as the coordinator of baseball video operations at Mississippi State in 2014 before Cleveland hired him to work in the Dominican Republic on its video operations staff.
The Texas Rangers hired Jeske to be part of their international operations, which was followed by three years at Missouri State (2016-18) as video coordinator and later director of baseball operations.
He broke into coaching with the Los Angeles Angels in 2019, working with the hitters for its team in the Arizona League, later with its team in the Arizona Complex League.
In 2022, he was hired as an assistant coach at Lackawanna College in Pennsylvania. He spent the summer as head coach for the Medicine Hat Mavericks in the Canadian Western Major Baseball League.
In 2023, Jeske was hired by the Oakland Athletics to be the hitting coach for their team in the Arizona Complex League. He later was hired by the Missoula PaddleHeads.
