The 2025-26 season is Britt Cooper’s first year as an assistant coach at Montana. She was hired in the spring of 2025 after spending the previous two seasons as the head coach at Montana Western.
A native of Harrison, Mont., Cooper played collegiately at Montana Western and won an NAIA national championship with the Bulldogs as a senior under current Lady Griz assistant coach Lindsay Woolley.
Over Cooper’s final three seasons at Montana Western, the Bulldogs won 24, 27 and 30 games, playing in the NAIA national tournament in Billings each postseason.
Montana Western made the round of 16 in 2017, the national semifinals in 2018, then won the national championship in 2019 with a 75-59 victory over Oklahoma City.
Cooper was honorable mention All-Frontier League as a sophomore, second-team as a junior, first-team and an honorable mention all-American as a senior. She totaled 1,085 career points, 890 rebounds.
She earned a degree in Mathematics and Health and Human Performance in 2019.
She was a graduate assistant for now Lady Griz head coach Nate Harris at NCAA Division II Angelo (Texas) State for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
She earned a master’s degree in Coaching, Sport, Recreation and Fitness Administration from Angelo State in 2021.
Cooper taught math and coached girls’ basketball at Harrison-Willow Creek High in 2021-22 before joining Woolley’s staff at Montana Western as an assistant for the 2022-23 season.
She was the head coach at Montana Western for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.
In Cooper’s first year leading the Bulldogs, they went 17-13 and finished third in the Frontier Conference with an 8-7 league record.
