He coached eight years at Miles (Mont.) Community College, coaching various sports from men’s and women’s basketball to men’s and women’s golf, and was the head women’s basketball coach at Montana Western from 2012-13 to 2022-23.
In four years as the head women’s basketball coach at Miles CC, Woolley’s teams went 87-37 and won a pair of Mon-Dak Conference championships.

Montana Western advanced to the NAIA round of 16 in 2016-17, the national quarterfinals in 2022-23, the semifinals in 2017-18 and won the NAIA championship in 2018-19 with a 75-59 victory over Oklahoma City in Billings.
Woolley, who was voted the 2019 NAIA national coach of the year, spent the 2023-24 season as an assistant at Utah State.
A 1998 graduate of Big Sky High in Missoula, Woolley was a member of the school’s 1997 Class AA state title team.
Woolley competed in basketball and golf at Montana Tech before transferring to Montana and earning a degree in mathematics education in 2004.
He later earned a master’s degree in human performance and physical education from Adams State in 2012.
