The 2022-23 season is Lisa O’Meara’s first year as an assistant coach at Montana.
O’Meara’s most recent past college coaching position was at Saint Mary’s. She was on staff for nine years, three as the program’s director of operations, six as an assistant coach.
In her nine years at Saint Mary’s, from 2010-11 to 2081-19, the Gaels averaged more than 21 wins per season, never winning fewer than 19, and nine times advanced to the WNIT.
In five of those WNIT appearances, Saint Mary’s advanced past the opening round. In 2013 and ’15, the Gaels advanced to the national quarterfinal round.
A native of Eugene, Ore., the former Lisa Busch played one year of basketball at Saint Mary’s, one at Lane (Ore.) Community College and two at Oregon Tech.
At Lane, she was part of what was an 83-game home winning streak. She set records at Oregon Tech for made 3-pointers in a game (eight) and career 3-point percentage (.418) and free throw percentage (.859).
The NAIA Academic All-American graduated from Oregon Tech in 2010 with a degree in management. She added a master’s degree in kinesiology from Saint Mary’s in 2012.
O’Meara stepped down from her coaching position at Saint Mary’s following the 2018-19 season to take a position with PGC Basketball, an organization that develops high school coaches and players through clinics and camps.
She is married to Brendan O’Meara, who was a USA Rugby Collegiate All-American at Saint Mary’s and was an assistant coach at his alma mater on teams that won club national championships in 2014, ’15 and ’17.
