UM women's tennis defeats Idaho, 5-2

The University of Montana women??s tennis team improved its season mark to 2-0 with a 5-2 win over Idaho Sunday morning in Missoula. The Grizzlies won two of three doubles matches and took four of six singles contests in the victory. The Vandals dropped to 1-8 on the year.
Freshman Liz Walker remained unbeaten on the season at No. 1 singles with a 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 come-from-behind win over UI??s Patricia Ruman. Sophomore Mari Castello recorded a win for UM at the No. 3, defeating Efrat Leopold 6-0, 6-3.
Senior Jonna Schwartz and freshman Alexandra Ulesanu tallied straight-set wins down in the lineup. Schwartz registered 6-3, 6-4 victory over UI??s Kasie King at the No. 5. Ulesanu won 7-6, 6-2 over Tara Fielding at the No. 6.
The Grizzlies won the doubles point for the second consecutive match. Castello and Walker teamed up for an 8-0 Griz win over Ruman and Mariel Tinnirello at the No. 1. Junior Cheyne Ursich joined Schwartz at the No. 3 to record an 8-2 win over Fielding and Kasie King.
Montana (2-0) returns to action Feb. 23-25 at the UNLV Invitational.
