Griz tennis sweeps Portland State

The University of Montana men??s tennis team swept both the singles and doubles contests in a 7-0 road win over Portland State on Saturday morning in Portland, Ore. The Grizzlies improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in Big Sky Conference play with the victory. The Vikings dropped to 0-7 on the year, 0-1 in league action.
Montana opened the match by taking all three doubles matches. Juniors Colin Dektar and Alexandre Gorj teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles, an 8-2 victory over Kyle Erickson and Alex Hart.
Junior Felipe Raw and sophomore Raydner Ramos also won by a margin of 8-2, topping Sean Eberle and Adam Blackner at the No. 2 slot. Sophomore Mikolaj Borkowski and freshman David Cysneiros came up with an 8-7 (10-4) win over Alex VanDerschelden and Jeff Cero at the No. 3 position.
Montana took five of the six singles contests in straight sets. Dektar won 7-5, 6-2 over VanDerschelden at the top of the lineup. Raw battled Erickson for a win at the No. 2 position, 7-6 (4), 7-5.
Borkowski and Ramos won their matches at Nos. 3 and 4 respectively. Borkowski topped Eberle 6-1, 6-3, while Ramos won 6-2, 6-1 over Blackner.
Newcomer Gorj won 6-2, 6-2 over Cero at the No. 5 slot. Cysneiros rounded out the lineup with a win at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2 over Hart.
Montana (1-1, 1-0 BSC) will take a couple of weeks off from competition before returning to action March 14-15 with matches against Air Force and Dayton.
