Griz men fall to Hornets, 5-2

Sacramento State took five-of-six singles matches to earn a 5-2 road win over The University of Montana men's tennis team on Friday afternoon at the former Missoula Athletic Club's tennis bubble. The loss dropped the Grizzlies to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Big Sky Conference play. The Hornets improved to 9-7 overall and remain unbeaten in league action with a 3-0 record.
Montana swept the three doubles matches to go up 1-0. Juniors Colin Dektar and Alexandre Gorj defeated Sac State's top doubles tandem of Anton Stryhas and Harbatsiuk, 8-4.
UM junior Felipe raw and sophomore Raydner Ramos teamed up for an 8-5 victory over Artur Limenka and Sven-David Rueff at the No. 2 slot. Sophomore Mikolaj Borkowski and David Cysneiros won by default over Holden Ching and Ronan Conlan at the No. 3 position. Conlon was a late scratch due to illness.
The Grizzlies only singles win came at the No. 6 position where Cysneiros won by default over Conlan. The Hornets won four of the six matches in straight sets. Ramos battled to a third-set superbreaker against Ching at the No. 4 position, falling 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6).
UM will return to action with Idaho on Saturday at 3 p.m., before closing the weekend with Montana State on Sunday at 10 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center in Bozeman.
