Griz men advance to semifinals to face Sac State

The University of Montana men??s tennis team advanced to the semifinal round of the Big Sky Conference Tennis Championships on Friday with a 4-0 win over No. 3 seed Weber State. The Grizzlies (8-8), the No. 6 seed in this year??s field, will face top seed Sacramento State on Saturday at the Gold River Racquet Club in Gold River, Calif.
No. 4 seed Montana State, which won 4-0 over No. 3 seed Northern Arizona, will battle No. 2 seed Eastern Washington in Saturday??s other semifinal.
Montana won the doubles point by taking matches at the No. 1 and 3 positions. Junior Colin Dektar and sophomore Mikolaj Borkowski won 8-5 over Sascha Kiehne and Fabio Mancarella at the No. 1 slot. Junior Alexandre Gorj and freshman David Cysneiros earned an 8-6 win at the No. 3 position over Ryan Garner and Spencer Marchant.
Dektar, Borkowski and Gorj each added singles victories for the 4-0 result. Dektar won in straight sets at the top of the lineup, cruising to a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Henning Hipp. Borkowski came from behind to win 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5-3) at the No. 2 slot over Kiehne. Gorj also won in three sets, a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Marchant at No. 6 singles.
Sophomore Raydner Ramos was leading in his match at the No. 4 singles position before the match was determined.
