Women's tennis falls 7-0 to Sacramento State

The University of Montana women???s tennis team dropped a 7-0 conference loss to Big Sky No. 1 Sacramento State in Sacramento Monday.?? The No. 53 Hornets nearly swept the Grizzlies with the exception of No. 3 doubles, which was won by Constance Alexander and Kayla Moyse of UM.
Moyse and Alexander climbed to 5-5 in doubles, having gone 5-1 in Big Sky play.
Close, three-set ??matches were played by Amanda Bran, who was defeated 7-5, 3-6, 10-6 by Milica Zivanovic at No. 5 and by Lauren Gibson who lost 6-4, 3-6, 11-9 to Gayane Sarkisian at No. 6. ??
??Sacramento State has won 7-0 over six of seven Big Sky opponents, going 6-1 over Montana State in the Bobcats??? March 21 loss to the Hornets. Interestingly, the Bobcats fell 7-0 to the Grizzlies March 13. ????????
Following play Monday, UM Coach Steve Ascher said, "The (Montana) girls went into competition today with the right mindset. That was to compete with the belief that they could win, and were there to play for that top conference spot. Sacramento State is an impressive team. Though our team put themselves in the right position to win today, Sacramento had some better athletes.
???Play today was a direct reflection of the performance that we have seen from this team in practice. If this is any indication of how we are going to be playing from now on, it should be a good trip for the team.???
The Grizzlies move on to play San Jose State Monday at 3:00 p.m. MT at the Spartan???s home court. ??
