Women's golf improves in final round of tournament

The University of Montana women's golf team finished twelfth in the Washington State Cougar Cup at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman, Wash.
After facing a difficult first and second round on Monday, the team improved immensely in the last 18 holes. They finished the final round with a team of 307, an 18-point improvement from round two. The team finished in front of Montana State and Eastern Washington.
"We had a much better round today. It was exciting to end on a strong note," said head coach Emily Milberger. "Tara Green had a strong performance. It was exciting for her to have a good final round and a good showing her at Palouse."
Sophomore Tara Green (74-81-75-230) led the team on day two. She jumped up five spots to tie for 35th place. Senior Olivia Weber (77-80-78-235) followed in 49th place. Junior Lindsay Reeve (83-80-77-240) finished in 64th place. She tied with freshman Kyla Clancy (78-85-77-240). Freshman Hayley Bingham (83-84-81) closed out the tournament with a 248 for 77th place.
Junior Natalie Beard (78-73-81), who played as an individual and did not count to the final team score, shot a final score of 232. She dropped down on the leader boards from 24th to 40th.
California took home the tournament title.
Next week, the team is a long ways from home as it travels to compete in the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo., Oct. 1-2.
