Montana's Heather Davidson has been named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week.
Davidson, a senior from Rocklin, Calif., played in the No. 1 spot in singles and doubles in this weekend's wins over fellow Big Sky member Northern Colorado and Colorado State.
On Saturday, Davidson claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Northern Colorado's Jennifer Buchanan, but lost at No. 1 doubles 8-5. Montana went on to sweep Northern Colorado 7-0 to gain its second conference win of the year.
Then on Sunday, Davidson earned points for Montana in both doubles and singles. She teamed up with Laurence Pelchat to defeat Colorado State's Natalie Heffron and Adriana Wojakowska 8-3. She then beat Heffron 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles spot. Montana defeated Colorado State 5-2.
The pair of wins improves Montana to 4-4 on the season.
"It's exciting to be given the POTW award," said Davidson. "I believe it highlights the work that our team has been putting forth every day at practice and is showing in our matches every week."
"Heather played some great tennis over weekend," said head coach Steve Ascher. "It's exciting to watch a player with the level of experience and maturity play well. I believe she was excited to earn a win against Colorado State and help the team achieve a victory in Fort Collins, Colo."
