Over the course of five weeks, GoGriz.com is introducing you first to three incoming players, then five returning players who will make up the 2014-15 Montana women's tennis team. Today: Precious Gbadamosi of Houston, Texas.
Playing in the bottom half of the singles lineup as a freshman and sophomore, Gbadamosi won 23 matches in 2011-12 to earn second-team All-Big Sky Conference honors. As a sophomore in 2012-13 she went 27-8 and was named first-team All-Big Sky.
Gbadamosi went 10-3 last fall, winning Cal State Fullerton's tournament, finishing second at Rice's and advancing to the round of 16 at the ITA Mountain Regional at Las Vegas. That success resulted in a No. 13 ITA region ranking in January.
Gbadamosi played No. 1 and 2 singles during the spring and teamed up with Haley Driver to go 16-6 at No. 1 doubles as Montana won its first Big Sky Conference regular-season championship with a perfect 9-0 record. Gbadamosi and Driver earned a No. 10 doubles ranking in the ITA's June poll.
Gbadamosi has gone 69-33 in singles in her Griz career and 61-31 in doubles.
"Precious has brought a competitive spirit and strong belief in winning to the team," says UM coach Steve Ascher.
"When people watch Precious play, they get to enjoy a show of both speed and athleticism. To see her run down a shot that many others would not get to has drawn oohs and aahs from both spectators and players.
"What I enjoy as a coach is that Precious has continued to grow on the court and off. She is gearing up for a great senior year. We are excited to see her in action and running down some more unbelievable shots in the fall."
