Montana finishes seventh at Palm Desert

The Montana women's golf team shot a final-round 316 on Sunday and finished seventh out of a dozen teams at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate, which was played at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.

Baylee Barckley, who was in the 80s for both rounds on Saturday, led the Grizzlies with a 78. Kari Opatz and Hailey Hoagland both shot a 79, and Teigan Avery came in at 80.

Hoagland, who shot rounds of 74 and 77 on Saturday, placed 12th, her third top-15 finish in three fall tournaments. Opatz finished just outside the top 20, tying for 21st.

Santa Clara's Kristin Le won the tournament at 3-over after shooting rounds of 77, 73 and 69. She helped the Broncos (303-295-300--898) win the team title by two strokes over Hawaii (299-301-300--900).

Montana was the top Big Sky Conference finisher, coming in 14 strokes ahead of Southern Utah and 60 in front of North Dakota.

The Grizzlies will wrap up their fall schedule at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational in Tacoma, Wash., on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 16-17.
