Montana's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has adopted 'More Than An Athlete' as its slogan, hoping to showcase that each of them have interests, passions and pursuits beyond their field of play. Regularly throughout the summer, Griz student-athletes will share personal, first-hand letters about who they are and what the slogan means to them.

As a Big Sky champion and school-record-holder on the track, Holly Sudol has accomplished plenty during her esteemed Griz career. But she is More Than An Athlete, as described below, in her own words:
What things are you involved in outside of your sport?
I recently graduated with a degree in business management and entrepreneurship, with certificates in entertainment management and the Franke Global Leadership Initiative.
Outside of track & field, I work at the University's admissions office, spend plenty of time in nature and am an avid traveler. I am also a member of the Advocates and the entertainment management student group. In the bit of free time I have, I love to cook!
Describe the importance of being involved in things aside from your sport:
To me, being involved in things outside of my sport is extremely important. I figured out pretty early into college that I wanted to be involved in the community as a whole, not just in athletics. By dedicating my time to groups and work other than my sport, I feel as though I've had a truly fulfilling and rewarding college experience.Â

lived last summer for her internship. What does the phrase 'More Than An Athlete'Â mean to you?Â
To me, being More Than An Athlete means that I'm valued in areas of my life outside of track. Not every practice, or every performance, is going to go the way you want it to; for athletes, that can be difficult to accept. You have to instill the idea that there is so much more to life than your sport! With that being said, the sport of track and everyone involved in my career have positively shaped me into the person I am today.
I'm grateful to have a coach like Lindsey Hall who makes sure I know how much I mean to the team, as well as how much I mean to everyone else in my life. Supportive coaches who understand what being More Than An Athlete is truly help us maintain this healthy mindset.Â

How has being involved in these things shaped your experience as a student athlete?
Being involved in so much outside my already-packed schedule has taught me that I'm capable of anything I set my mind to. I work to the best of my ability in everything I commit to, and it all has come together to create an incredible experience at the University of Montana.Â
