Montana's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has adopted 'More Than An Athlete' as its slogan, hoping to showcase that each of them have interests, passions and pursuits beyond their field of play. Regularly throughout the summer, Griz student-athletes will share personal, first-hand letters about who they are and what the slogan means to them.

During a storied track career that has featured a Big Sky championship and two school records, Jaydon Green has accomplished plenty in his sport. He also earned a degree from the University of Montana in wildlife biology. But he is More Than An Athlete, as described below, in his own words:
I am studying journalism this year, but I still have tried to stay connected with wildlife biology (a major he earned a degree in in May 2022). I started an independent study, working with Lisa Eby and looking at long-term effects of wildfires on emerging insects. I am working to present my results at UMCUR, and hopefully get my results into a published paper. I also work part-time as an animal care technician at the University of Montana Flight Laboratory. I take care of the birds there and sometimes help with training!

It is important to not only exercise your body but exercise your mind and keep a healthy balance between the two. More Than An Athlete means that I am not limited to success just on the track. While my performance in school and in my studies are not nearly as celebrated as my performance on the track, it is just as important to me. My impact is greater than just running fast.
