Montana lands 70 on fall Academic All-Big Sky teams

The University of Montana Department of Athletics placed 70 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big Sky Conference teams for fall sports, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Montana's total ranked third in the Big Sky.
The Grizzlies had 32 football players recognized, 17 from soccer, eight from volleyball, seven from women's cross country and six from men's cross country.
In addition to meeting the participation criteria for the past season, only student-athletes with a cumulative GPA after the fall semester of 3.2 or better were eligible.
Montana's football total of 32 was four more than any other league team, in a season that the Grizzlies won the Big Sky title and advanced to the national championship game.
Since coach Bobby Hauck returned prior to the 2018 season, Montana has had 202 Academic All-Big Sky selections, the most in the Big Sky.
Coach Chris Citowicki's Big Sky champion soccer team had 17 selections, including now five-time honoree Sydney Haustein.
From coach Allison Lawrence's volleyball team, Catie Semadeni became a five-time Academic All-Big Sky selection, Carly Anderson and Sarah Ashley four-time selections.
