Corcoran earns fourth Sportscaster of the Year honor
1/16/2026 1:20:00 PM | General
The National Sports Media Association (NSMA) has named the "Voice of the Griz" Riley Corcoran the Montana Sportscaster of the Year. This is the fourth time in his career at Montana that Corcoran has received the top honor in the state and first since 2021.
Â
Corcoran is now in his 10th season calling Griz football and men's basketball for Learfield. He hosts the Inside the Den podcast, featuring interviews with coaches and athletes from across Grizzly Athletics, and hosts radio and TV versions of the Grizzly Coaches Show.
Â
In addition to his primary duties and hosting, Corcoran also fills in in Grizzly volleyball and softball in addition to serving as the emcee for a variety of events for Griz athletics. He also contributes to the award-winning radio show "The Daily Drive with Ace Sauerwein" discussing Grizzly athletics and beyond.
Â
"When you get that phone call, you get to reflect about the great team that you have around you and that's certainly something that I have done the last couple of weeks," Corcoran said. "This job is so gratifying for a lot of different reasons, but there is no way that an award like this can be won without a great support team around you.
Â
"It's certainly something that I have from my family at home to my work family. I get to work closely with them and get to call them friends as well. It truly is an honor and a privilege and those feelings have remained the same for me the last decade."
Â
It's been a year of milestones for Corcoran. He is wrapping up a decade on the mic at Grizzly sporting events and recently called his 500th overall game, including over 100 Grizzly football games. He's been to March Madness three times with Grizzly men's basketball and has called 15 FCS Playoff games.
Â
He earned his first honor in 2019 and would go on to win three straight. This is now his fourth honor. Corcoran was one of 17 recipients this year earning at least their fourth Sportscaster of the Year.
Â
"Congratulations to Riley on a very well-deserved honor," Director of Athletics Kent Haslam said. "He represents Grizzly Athletics with professionalism and has a tremendous ability to connect with the fans and tell the story of our student-athletes."
Â
Braden Shaw of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle was named the Montana Sportswriter of the Year.
Â
Award winners will be honored at the NSMA national convention held June 28-29, 2026 at the Grandover Resort & Spa in Greensboro, N.C.
