THE GAME(S): The University of Montana Grizzlies (13-5/5-1) continue their Big Sky Conference slate, playing the Idaho State Bengals (5-12/1-4) in ISU's Reed Gym (3,000/Press row: 208-282-5722) in a 7:05 (Mtn.) contest.
RADIO: UM's flagship station is KGVO Radio (1290 AM). The "Voice of the Grizzlies" Mick Holien calls the play-by-play and Greg Sundberg provides color commentary.

GRIZ LAST TWO GAMES: At Montana 77, Portland State 70: Center Brian Qvale registered his second double-double in a row to lead the Griz. It was a back-and-forth game with 10 ties and eight lead changes, but, Montana took the lead for good with 16:11 left on a pair of free throws by guard Will Cherry, making the score 41-39 Griz. PSU cut the UM lead to four points (70-66) with 50 seconds left with two free throws, but Cherry made 6-of-6 free throws in the final 24 seconds to ice the game for UM. The Griz have won eight of their last nine games. Qvale finished with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Cherry scored a team-high 19 points and had 7 assists, while forward Art Steward added 17 points and 8 rebounds.
At Montana 66, Eastern Washington 47: Qvale had a double-double to lead the Griz. EWU reduced Montana's lead to single digits (33-24) once in the second half with 17:44 left, but Griz forward Derek Selvig hit a jumper on UM's next possession, giving Montana a double-figure advantage (35-24), and UM led the rest of the way. Qvale scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and also blocked 5 shots. Cherry scored a game-high 15 points, while Steward added 11 points. Selvig finished with 7 points and 8 rebounds.
TINKLE NOW FIFTH AT MONTANA IN CAREER WINS: Fifth-year Griz head coach Wayne Tinkle won his 81st game at Sac State on Jan. 8th, which placed him fifth in school history in career victories. He now has 83 career wins.
GRIZ 13TH IN MID-MAJOR POLL: Montana moved up to 13th (from 16th) in the recent (Jan. 17) CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. St. Mary's (16-2) remained first in the poll.
QVALE TIED FOR FIRST IN BIG SKY/UM CAREER BLOCKS: Qvale is now tied for first all-time at Montana and in Big Sky history with 212 career blocks. Qvale is tied with Daren Engellant who holds the Montana and Big Sky records with 212 blocks (1988-92).
CHERRY, QVALE RANKED AMONG D-I LEADERS: Cherry is ranked fourth in the nation in steals at 3.1 a game. Qvale is ranked eighth in blocked shots (3.3 a game) and 13th in field goal percentage (58.7%).
