Lady Griz tennis fell to the University of Nevada 6-1 Sunday in Pullman, Wash.
The loss follows a shutout loss to Washington State on Saturday. The two losses drop Montana to 2-4 on the season.
"We gained valuable experience and with a continued focus on the process will continue to improve," said Steve Ascher. "These two matches provided the insight necessary to guide our next three weeks of competition as we strive to improve with each future outing as a team."
While Montana was able to secure the doubles point early in the match, the team was not able to pick up in points in the singles matches.
Montana's Laurence Pelchat and Heather Davidson defeated Michelle Okhremchuk and Emma Verberne 8-4 in the No. 1 spot. Okhremchuk and Verberne are ranked No. 4 in their region.
Maddy Murray and Sasha Carter secured the doubles point by defeating Shelia Smiley and Sophie Stevens 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles spot.
"We were pleased with how the team came out and performed in doubles today," said head coach Steve Ascher"The doubles teams were disciplined, and we demonstrated the techniques that we have been working in practice to achieve."
While most of the singles teams lost to Nevada in two sets, Maddy Murray pushed her opponent into a tie breaker before being defeated by Rymma Maslova.
"Nevada played solid singles throughout their line-up," said Ascher. "I thought our players responded well and were able to put together some intelligent play."
Montana is in Colorado next weekend to take on Northern Colorado and Colorado State.
