The Montana women's tennis team improved to 2-2 on Saturday morning by dominating NAIA Lewis-Clark State 7-0 at the Peak Racquet Club in Missoula, Mont.
Doubles play ended very quickly, as Precious Gbadamosi and Haley Driver won 6-0 about 20 minutes after the match began at No. 1 doubles. Ashley Mackey and Maddy Murray also won 6-0, as Sasha Carter and Laurence Pelchat finished off Lewis-Clark State's Rye Hewett and Deanri Human at No. 2.
In singles play, the Griz dominated from top to bottom.
Carter at No. 2 and Mackey at No. 4 each won their matches in straight sets by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Pelchat handled Bryn Oliveira 6-0, 6-2 and Gbadamosi defeated Florencia Martina at No. 1 singles in straight sets as well.
"I thought our team did a nice job of keeping their focus," Head coach Steve Ascher said. "They kept up their energy and concentration throughout the entirety of the match. They were very present throughout the entirety of the experience."
Anabel Carbo-Estruch, a freshman from Valencia, Spain, won against Netti Dayhuff in her first ever singles match as a Grizzly.
"It's nice for her to get that win in her first college match," Ascher said. "Obviously there's a lot of butterflies, but I think it's nice to go out on the court and have that first initial experience. And it's nice for me because I haven't seen her play a lot, so I need those opportunities to see her play more and see how she is as a competitor in a live match situation."
Montana will take on Montana State in a few hours at 3 p.m. at the Peak.
