The Montana Grizzlies women's tennis team fell in a non-conference match against Santa Clara 6-1 on Friday afternoon.
Montana's Precious Gbadamosi and Laurence Pelchat won the No. 1 doubles match, but the Griz fell in the next two to lose the doubles point to start off.
Gbadamosi played after her status was unknown entering the weekend. She sat out last weekend with a high-ankle sprain, but made her return in California.
In singles, it was all Santa Clara, as they won matches 1-5 on their way to the victory.
At No. 2 Montana's Sasha Carter pushed Nabila Farah to three sets, but came up short in the final set 6-2.
Catherine Orfanos picked up the lone win for the Griz at No. 6, defeating Danielle Zinn 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
The Grizzlies (5-7/4-0 BSC) will be back in action tomorrow against Big Sky opponent Sacramento State. Montana is undefeated, but are currently in third place in the Big Sky, behind Northern Arizona (8-6/5-0 BSC) and Sacramento State (11-9/6-0 BSC).
The top six teams make the postseason tournament.
