Montana cruises past Lewis-Clark State

The Grizzlies showed their dominance early and often, cruising to the doubles point behind three easy wins.
The story followed the same script when the two teams met in the singles competition, as Montana won all six matches in straight sets. Senior Precious Gbadamosi, who normally plays No. 1 for the Griz, didn't play to rest for tomorrows match against Idaho.
Coach Steve Ascher was pleased with his team's performance, and is glad they had a chance to schedule a tune-up match before facing a very talented Idaho team.
"It's really nice timing that we could come down here and, typically we just warm up the day before, but it's nice to get some match play in and get some match toughness before a good match," Ascher said. "LCSU always competes well and moves balls, so it was just a nice match and great preparation for tomorrow."
The match against Idaho on Friday is perhaps the most important contest of the season for Montana. The two teams are separated in the win column by two games, but both have just one loss on their resumes. Second place in the Big Sky may very well be decided on Friday.
"It's a big one for sure," Ascher said. "I think Idaho, even last year they were ranked top 60 in the nation, I'm sure they having a good year and we've always had really competitive matches with them, so I'm not expecting anything different."
While Idaho is a very talented team, Ascher likes the way his women have been playing, and is looking forward to Friday.
"The way we're competing right now and how smart we're playing," Ascher said, "I'm excited to get involved in it."
